KUNLUN FIGHT: THE GRAND FINALS ARE COMING
It's that time of the year when the world's premier Kickboxing organization, Kunlun Fight, brings the A-listers and superstars of the fight world together for the finale of the yearly Kunlun 70 kg tournament.
The man who claimed the glory last year was non other than Marat Gregorian, and we all remember that glorious night when he smashed his way to Kunlun eminence by defeating a highly touted Thai megastar, Superbon Banchamek, to claim the coveted Kunlun accolades.
Back to the here and now: it's four familiar faces who will duke it out for the right to be called the "King of Kunlun' on Sunday the 24th of February in the alluring city of Shanghai, China.
The Final-Four Protagonists:
First up to step over the ropes in semifinal number one will Georgian fighter, Davit Kiria, who will face off against hometown favorite, Feng Ring Li. This matchup has the makings of a sizzling encounter as both fighters are regarded for their high octane fighting styles: will the slick Georgian outgun the crafty Chinese warrior, or will Feng slay the Mr. Kiria.
Feng sprung some-what of a surprise back in October when he defeated the highly touted Spanish fighter, Jonay Risco, in the quarterfinals, taking home a points victory. Kiria for his part got the better of Morocco's Nordin Ben-Moh in the quarterfinals via a ruthless "KO' in the closing stage son their contest.
The second semifinal pits Dutch/Moroccan fighter, Marouan Toutouh, against the fearless Dzianis Zuev, himself a former winner of the golden prize that all four men will be chasing.
Back in October Marouan ouzed class and style as he defeated Russian warrior, Anatoly Moiseev, to claim his spot in the semifinals, whilst Mr. Zuev outworked and out maneuvered Russia's Vlad Tuinov to seal yet another semifinal appearance for the Belarusian military man.
The Eight-Man Tournament:
The night would not be complete without a mandatory one night eight-man tournament and it's time for the big boys to shine as eight combatants from around the world will collide to see who can become the new KunLun Fight 100+ Kg tournament winner.
In the opening 1/4 final, Daniel Sam, from the UK will take on the mighty Chinese fighter, Asihati, in what promise to be a real clash of east versus west to see who sails into the semifinals.
The second 1/4 final pits Brazilian warrior, Haime Morais, against a former winner of this one night event, Iranian fighter, Iraq Azizipour.
The penultimate 1/4 final will witness Serbian fighter, Rade Opacic, take on China's Liu Wei for a spot in the semifinals against the winner of the climatic quarterfinal.
That afforementioned last 1/4 final sees the tournament favorite, Roman Krykila, hailing from the Ukraine, challenge Slovakian fighter, Martin Pacas for spot in the semi's where the winner will face off against either Opacic or Liu Wei.
The Female Super-Fight:
To round the night off in style two tremendous female kick boxers will clash in a prestige contest between one of China's best and one of Morocco's eminent fighters.
Chinese Braveheart Zhang Ye will collide in the squared circle with Anissa Haddaoui in a 3-round super bout set at 60kgs. This matchup has "fight of the night" written all over it!
