Phoenix Rising: Muay flames will burn at Rajadamnern

Dream big. Plan with vigor and passion. Build an organization with a dream to one day take that promotion to the heartland of the majestic fighting art of Thai Boxing. Well, that certainly is the case for Lebanese businessman Chahe Yerevanian  who had an alluring vision to bring his very successful Phoenix Fighting Championship to the home of MuayThai. That aforementioned vision and dream will come to fruition on Monday the 26th of February at the famed and storied Rajadamnern Stadium  in Bangkok, Thailand.

For that, sir: we aficionados salute your innovative thinking and planning in bringing a multitude of the world’s finest fighters together for one night at the Mecca of MuayThai. The event will host a plethora of elite MuayThai championship fights: two coveted WBC MuayThai world titles, one Rajadamnern Stadium middleweight title and six Phoenix world titles.

The showpiece bout for the night’s proceedings sees the ‘middleweight King’ Youssef Boughanem  defend his Rajadamnern Stadium 160lb title against the current Lumpinee stadium 160lb champion, Noppagao Siriluck MuayThai. To add a little more spice to this fight, the ‘Green Beauty’ that is the WBC MuayThai world title will also be available for the victor, plus as if that’s not enough the glorious Phoenix world title will also be on the line. Who will prevail in the battle of current elite stadium champions?

Another scintillating bout for this card sees current WBC lightweight world champion Panpayak Chuwattana square off against ‘the man who yields to no one’ aka Seksan Or Kwanmuang. Panpayak will defend that beautiful green belt for this bout!

These two clashed back in December 2017 — on that occasion Seksan had his hand raised in glorious victory. Will it be revenge or repeat?

One of, if not the most intriguing matchup for the night’s event sees two ‘Muay monsters’ clash once again to see who will be crowned the WBC super-heavyweight champion of the world. Yassine Boughanem   the younger brother of Youssef will face off with former WBC world champion Steve ‘Panda’ Banks Banks will be looking to regain the title he was forced to vacate after being stopped via a ‘TKO’ loss to British fighter Daniel Sam back in 2017, a fight that took place on Phoenix 3 in London. The last time Yassine squared off against the Panda he stopped him in the second round of their fight. Can the Phuket based American gain revenge for that loss? Find out on the 26th of February.

Two bonafide MuayThai superstars will once again collide when ‘The Sweep King’ Superbank takes on two-time former Lumpinee stadium champion Gaonar from PK Saenchai gym. Superbank is a former multi-time Rajadamnern and Lumpinee stadium champion and a former recipient of the coveted ‘fighter of the year’ award. These two have fought each other two times previously, on both occasions Gaonar was victorious — back in 2012 via a monstrous ‘KO’ and last year he scored a points victory at Rajadamnern.

There are a total of nine super-bouts on the card where Muay stars from around the country of Thailand and from around the globe will come together for what promises to be a night to remember for the fight fans in attendance.
