Muay Ireland: A bevy of international Muay stars are headed to Dublin in July
Saturday the 8th of July sees Dublin city host what promises to be a fantastic night of Muaythai action where fight fans will get to witness 'The king of Dublin' return to fight in his home town.
The nights main event sees Ognjen Topic, who fights out of North Jersey Muaythai gym in America take on England's Paul Barber. Paul trains out of Kieran Keddles DoubleK gym. This bout will be fought at 61.5kgs.
Topic is coming off a recent loss to Thailand's Tum Sityodtong, a fight that was fought at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.
Barber is fresh off a victory over Spanish fighter Dass Rey.
The nights co-main event sees the aforementioned King of Dublin return home to fight on his home turf. Stephen Meleady, who these days fights out of the famed Bad Company gym in Leeds will offer his hometown fans a welcome glimpse of his Muay skills.
His opponent for the night is Dublin based fighter, Craig Coakley, who is out of Tony Olin's Lionheart gym. This is a massive step up in opposition for Coakley and this fight is being billed as Dublin's MuayThai fight of the decade. Can it live up to its billing?
Meleady recently lost a hard fought battle against the durable and skillful Scottish fighter, Chris Shaw.
The rest of the fight card is stacked with young up and coming Irish and international Muaythai and Kick boxing talent.
As an extra incentive for the nights fighters, Sitsonpeenong gym on the island of Phuket has offered free training and accommodation to the fighter who showcases the most outstanding performance of the night.
Irish fight fans can contact the promoter, Mr.
Martin Horgan for details on tickets.
