KLF79: Sergei Shines on the Kunlun Stage

December 16, 2018

In what was yet another night of elite Kickboxing action, Ukrainian powerhouse Sefesi Kuliaba was crowned as the new King of Kunlun’s welterweight division.

In his opening 1/4 final Sergei Kuliaba defeated Jia Aoqi who bested supernova Vlad Tuinov dating back to his Kunlun Debut, after three rounds of action Kuliaba survived Jia's onslaught and won the first fight by a close points decision.

Kuliaba’s semifinal encounter was against Chinese Sun Zhixiang- who had earlier unsettlingly defeated battle scarred veteran Yamada Kenta in the 1/4 finals. It was Kuliaba's silky skill set, throws and sweeps that neutralize Sun's aggression and sent the Ukrainian in the night’s final.

The final arrived and the man standing in kuliaba’s way was another home favorite Gu Hui, who had made his way to final by defeating WLF world champion Nafi Bilalowski in the 1/4 finals and conquering Enfusion world champion Soufiane Kaddouri who pulled off the biggest upset of the night by eliminating former champion "Liverbuster" Wei Ninghui via an extension round, Decision in the semifinals, both fights went the distance and Gu advanced into the finals to rematch with Kuliaba who came back to Kunlun with a vengeance.

The scene wa set as Kuliaba had earlier called out Gu earlier at weigh-in to prepare for a rematch in the tournament finals, and so it happened. It soon became blood-bathed as Gu Hui's eyebrow cut gets deepened since his very first fight. After three rounds of pulsating action, it was Sergei Kuliaba that had the beautiful belt wrapped around his waist, and put some coveted Kunlun gold into his glittering collection.
